Why it matters

What happens when nobody maintains a WordPress site

Most WordPress problems are not sudden. They build up quietly: an outdated plugin, a backup nobody tested, an update pushed live on a Friday.

91% of new WordPress vulnerabilities were found in plugins, not in WordPress core.
46% of vulnerabilities were not fixed by the developer in time for public disclosure.
The fix Someone who watches your plugins, applies patches once they are tested, and can restore the site if anything goes wrong.

Figures from Patchstack's State of WordPress Security report. The practical point: most risk sits in the plugins your site already runs, which is why updates, backups, and monitoring have to be routine rather than occasional.

What's included

Everything a live WordPress site needs each month

One predictable routine instead of hunting for help in the middle of an emergency.

01

Updates tested on staging

Core, theme, and plugin updates applied to a copy first, checked, then pushed live.

02

Restore-tested backups

Scheduled off-site backups, and we test that they actually restore.

03

Uptime monitoring

Alerts reach a person who can act on them, not an inbox nobody reads.

04

Security scans

Regular malware checks and a review of plugins with known vulnerabilities.

05

Small edits

Text, images, new sections, and minor layout changes, handled for you.

06

Speed checks

We watch for the slowdowns that creep in as plugins and content grow.

07

Fast help when it breaks

If something goes wrong, we fix it, same day when the site is down.

08

Monthly report

What we did, what we found, and anything that needs a decision. In plain language.

Maintenance vs doing it yourself

You can maintain WordPress yourself. Here is the difference.

For a simple site, the tasks are manageable. The question is whether they happen consistently, and who is online when the site goes down. Our guide to what a WordPress care plan includes covers the trade in more detail.

Doing it yourself With Survyc maintenance Updates Clicked on the live site and hoped for the best ✓  Tested on staging, then pushed live Backups A plugin is installed somewhere ✓  Off-site, scheduled, and restore-tested Downtime A customer tells you ✓  An alert reaches us, and we act Security A security plugin nobody checks ✓  Scans, plugin reviews, and cleanup if needed Your time Hours a month, usually at the worst time ✓  A monthly report you read in five minutes

When you do not need a maintenance plan

A hobby blog with little traffic and no custom code can usually be kept current by its owner. If the site earns money through sales, bookings, or leads, or has custom features, routine maintenance costs less than the emergency it prevents.

Common questions

WordPress maintenance questions

Straight answers before you commit to anything.

What does WordPress maintenance include?

Core, theme, and plugin updates tested on staging, scheduled off-site backups that are restore-tested, uptime and security monitoring, small content edits, and a monthly report. The exact scope is written down before you start, so you know what is covered and what would be quoted separately.

How much does WordPress maintenance cost?

It depends on the site: how many plugins it runs, whether it is a WooCommerce store, and how many edits you expect each month. After a short site check you get one fixed monthly price in writing. Our care plans guide explains what moves the price and what cheap plans leave out.

How often should WordPress be updated?

Security fixes should go in as soon as they are tested, because many attacks target known plugin vulnerabilities. Routine updates run on a fixed schedule agreed in your plan. The important part is testing them on staging first, since untested updates are the most common reason a working site suddenly breaks.

Is there a contract?

No. Maintenance is month to month and you can cancel any month. Your hosting, domain, code, and accounts stay in your name the whole time, so leaving never means losing access to your own website or waiting on us to hand anything back.

Can you maintain a site another developer built?

Yes. Most of the sites we maintain were built by someone else. We start with a site check to map the plugins, custom code, and hosting, document what we find, and set up staging and backups before the first update is applied.

Do you provide hosting?

We do not resell hosting. We can recommend a host that suits your traffic and budget, set it up correctly, and manage it as part of your plan, but the hosting account stays in your name so you are never locked in.
